About Us
Peter af Rolen of Stockholm, Sweden designed and worked on improving the Zalt lure for his use in the 1980s. He found that by changing the weighting arrangement and hydrodynamics of the lure, he could refine the action of his lure to simulate an injured baitfish. The action that his lure produced has been improved over time, and with the improvements came a lure that he and his friends could count on for triggering many hours of exciting fishing in their native waters.
By 1990 the popularity of Peter's Zalt had grown to the point that he had to make the decision to either make his lure available commercially or keep receiving inquiries about his gliding and darting lure from envious anglers. With some soul-searching he elected to go into commercial production of his friend, Zalt.
The Zalt's introduction to the commercial market took place in 1990. As reported by an article in Sportfishing magazine dated Nov. 10, 1996, titled "Deadly Pike Bites", the Zalt had produced 132 pike to be registered to the "List of Merit". As reported, the Zalt produces a double movement, a soft and gentle side to side and it "wags" its tail, acting like an injured fish.
In the late summer of 2002, Peter was looking to market his Zalt into North America and decided to form a distribution agreement with M & H Enterprises. On October 1, 2002 Zalt North America Distribution was formed to market the Zalt product line in North America.
As Zalt is new to North America, we would like to know about your experiences with Zalt, as well as any recommendations that you may have with regard to improvements, colors, and especially pictures of your catches.
Each year the largest and heaviest of each species of fish caught on a Zalt or Zam will be awarded a gift from Zalt North America Distribution. Please feel free to e-mail us your Zalt catches anytime!
